ACCESSIBLE GAME DEVELOPERS

WELCOME TO ACCESSIBLE GAME DEVELOPERS

Welcome to the accessible game developers website. This website was designed to aid both disabled and mainstream game developers in creating and designing accessible games for people with physical disabilities such as blindness, impaired motor skills, and other disabilities that may prevent someone from enjoying standard video games for the PC and other popular game consoles.

Here you will find a number of free tools to build and design free and commercial games such as Microsoft's Visual Studio Express, Eclipse for Java, Codeblocks, Monodevelop, and other such tools. Most of the tools found here have been personally tested for screen reader compatibility, and are known to work with current versions of Jaws for Windows, NVDA, Window-Eyes, and are assumed to work with other screen readers as well.See our downloadspage for more details.

As of January 2012 we have also started writing high quality documentation for popular programming languages such as C++, Java, C# .NET, and Visual Basic .NET in order to provide everyone low cost accessible documentation appropriate for everyone from beginner to advanced. This documentation includes getting started programming guides to more advanced topics such as working with DirectX, SlimDX, SDL, Microsoft's Speech API, and other necessary tools and libraries. See the list of tutorials below for documentation.
