SOFTWARE DOWNLOADS

Welcome to the software downloads page. Here you will find integrated development environments, compilers, APIs, and tools required to develop games in a number of programming languages.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT KITS

DirectX SDK

The Microsoft DirectX Software Developers Kit is a powerful collection of development libraries required to produce high performance games for the Windows operating system. Includes headers, libraries, C++ documentation, and a number of source code examples for C++ developers.

SlimDX SDK

The SlimDX Software Developers Kit is a powerful collection of .NET libraries for the C#.NET and Visual Basic.NET programming languages that provides managed access to Microsoft's DirectX API. Includes some documentation and source code examples for C#.NET developers.

SDL SDK

The Simple Direct Media Layer, SDL, is a simple collection of cross-platform libraries designed to make it possible for game developers to create games for a wide range of platforms including: Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. Although, primarily designed for C and C++ game developers a number of language bindings and wrappers have been created for SDL such as PyGame for Python and SDL .NET for C# in order to create cross-platform compatible games in a variety of languages. Although, simple compared to something like DirectX SDL is a decent tool for cross-platform developers and beginners alike.

SDL SDK 1.2.13 (Windows x86)

SDL.NET SDK

SDL.NET is a .NET wrapper for SDL that provides a managed approach to SDL using C#.NET and Visual Basic.NET. It can be used with Visual C# Express to create Windows .NET games, or used with Monodevelop to create cross-platform games for Mac OS X and Linux.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TOOLS

Visual C++ Express

Microsoft's Visual C++ IDE and compiler is the premier development tool for the Windows platform. It provides the C++ developer the option to write standard C++ Win32 console and Windows applications, or the option to write Managed C++ applications using the .NET 4.0 Framework.

Visual C# Express

Microsoft's Visual C# .NET IDE and compiler is the perfect tool for amateur and professional developers alike. C# .NET has a C style syntax familiar to C, C++, and Java developers but the ease of use and rapid development features of Visual Basic. Developers can quickly design Windows applications by dragging and dropping common Windows controls from the toolbox onto a blank form, click on the new control, and then program the code in the code editor. Combined with Microsoft's .NET Framework, which has hundreds of predefined classes, C# .NET is one of the quickest and easiest ways to build applications for Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

Visual Basic Express

Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 is the latest release of Microsoft's popular Visual Basic language IDE and compiler. As with all of Microsoft's earlier Visual Basic releases it provides the developer with rapid development and deployment of Windows software by dragging and dropping common Windows controls onto a blank form, and then editing them in the code editor. Unlike Microsoft's other tools Visual Basic is similar to other Basic style languages, but offers a fully object oriented approach to programming similar to that of C# and Java. Together with the .NET 4.0 Framework, which has hundreds of predefined classes, Visual Basic .NET is one of the easiest languages and tools to quickly develop next generation applications for Windows 7, Vista, and XP.
